Dawn Josephine Wilson is an accomplished professional with a passion for education and fencing. Originally from Kentucky, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/International Affairs from Transylvania University, along with a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kentucky.
Education and Community Leadership
Dawn has dedicated her career to fostering a love for learning within her community. Her commitment to education is evident through her leadership roles, including her appointment as a commissioner to the Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission by two successive mayors. In this capacity, she serves as the Commission's Education Chairperson, where she has been instrumental in shaping policies that promote educational equality. Additionally, she is a proud member of the Juneteenth Commission, contributing to efforts that celebrate and educate the public about this pivotal moment in history.
Fencing Achievements and Promotion
As an avid fencer, Dawn has not only excelled personally but has also worked tirelessly to grow the sport. Dawn has served the community as a Head Coach of after school programs in Downtown Louisville, as well as the Chair of the Kentucky Division of USA Fencing, she leads efforts to expand youth participation and promote the sport throughout the state. Her dedication to the fencing community is matched by her impressive competitive record. She is a two-time women's veteran saber national fencing champion, winning back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015. Dawn's talent also shines on the international stage. She was selected to represent the United States at the World Veterans Championships in both 2017 and 2018. As a member of a medal-winning squad, she contributed to a team victory and achieved a top-15 world ranking in veterans' saber. Her achievements reflect a strong, team-oriented spirit and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
